Questions before you buy?
What is Cutroom?
Cutroom is a desktop video editor for Windows and Mac that runs on your own computer. Edit by hand like any timeline app, or connect an AI agent and ask for the edit in plain words.
Which AI can drive Cutroom, and how?
Anything that speaks MCP, the open standard: Claude Code, Claude Desktop, OpenAI Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code and Cline. Open Connect AI, pick your tool, and Cutroom sets it up. Claude Code connects in one click. You bring the account, so there is no AI bill from us.
Does Cutroom work on a Mac?
Yes. There are native builds for Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) and for Intel Macs, on macOS 12 or later. Recording, transcription and export all work on the Mac. The app is not notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open it you allow it once in System Settings, Privacy & Security.
Does Cutroom work without an AI?
Yes. It is a full manual editor on its own, with the whole timeline, captions, color, and export. The AI only speeds you up, so you can connect nothing and still do everything by hand.
Does my footage get uploaded?
Not by us. Editing, transcription, and background removal all run on your machine. If you connect an AI it reads frames and audio to check its own work, and anything you ask it to generate goes to the provider whose key you brought. None of your files come to us.
What can the AI actually do in Cutroom?
It reaches more than 120 tools: import, cut, remove silence, reframe to vertical, caption, grade, add titles and animated graphics, clean the audio, find B-roll, generate voice or images with your own keys, record, and export. Before it calls the cut done, it watches the result back and checks the audio.
Can I change what the AI made?
Yes, all of it. Every AI edit is a normal clip, effect or graphic on your timeline. Graphics come with their own controls, effects open right on the timeline, the Activity tab lists every step, and any step can be undone.
Can Cutroom transcribe and caption in Arabic and other languages?
Yes. A multilingual speech model ships inside the app and transcribes Arabic and more than 90 languages on your own machine, auto-detecting the spoken language or the one you pick. Arabic and Hebrew captions render right-to-left with a bundled Arabic font, in the editor and in the exported video. Cutroom fits the model to your machine's memory, so it works on modest computers too, and it all runs offline.
Is Cutroom a one-time purchase?
Yes, one payment, no subscription, and no fee per export. The key is tied to your account rather than to a machine, so it works on every computer you own, Windows or Mac, with no device limit.
What do I need to run Cutroom?
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), or macOS 12 or later on an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac. No graphics card is required, though one makes exports and AI upscaling faster. Connecting an AI needs Node.js installed, and Cutroom tells you if it is missing.
Buy it once. It is yours.
No subscription and no fee per export. One key, on every computer you own.

The AI is one you bring yourself, like Claude, Codex, or Gemini, so that cost is between you and them. Cutroom is a full editor without it, and the editing always runs on your machine.
