Stripe Sessions 2026 ran April 30 with what the company called "288 new products and features" — its largest annual product drop on record (Stripe, Everything we announced at Sessions 2026). Most of that surface area targets marketplaces, enterprises, and AI agent platforms. For a service freelancer who just wants client invoices to clear faster, five launches are the ones that actually matter. The rest is infrastructure for someone else's roadmap.
1. Stripe Treasury — free, instant transfers between US businesses on Stripe
The single biggest unlock for freelance cash flow. Stripe Treasury now offers "free instant transfers between US businesses on Stripe" — a $0 ACH-equivalent that settles in seconds rather than the 1-3 business days of a standard ACH transfer (Stripe, Sessions 2026 announcement post).
What this means in practice: if a US-based agency client pays you through a Stripe-powered invoicing tool, and you hold a Stripe Treasury balance, the money is in your spendable balance the moment they hit pay. No 2-day ACH wait. No $15-$25 wire fee for "fast" settlement. The freelancer-to-freelancer payment friction that used to define the indie economy starts to evaporate at the point both ends sit on Stripe.
Stripe also added a Stripe Card powered by Mastercard with 2% cashback on purchases for US Treasury holders, plus support for holding balances in 15 currencies by end of 2026 for US and UK accounts (). For freelancers who currently bounce between Wise, a US business checking account, and a corporate card, that is a meaningful consolidation.
